Case study

What Mobimed Patiententransport GmbH needed and what we built

The challenge

Patient transport is rarely booked for oneself and often under time pressure: relatives for a father after surgery, a care ward for a transfer, a clinic for a dialysis trip. They search by type of transport and by place, «stretcher transport Basel», «patient transport Riehen», or by the hospital they need to reach. The old website ran on an older CMS, and bookings were to reach dispatch directly, without retyping. And in the Basel border region, customers also ask in English and French.

Our solution

We rebuilt the website with Next.js in three complete language trees with translated URLs. Each of the 14 transport types, from stretcher and wheelchair transport to dialysis and repatriation trips, has its own page. 19 location pages list typical destinations, directions and local questions, and 12 hospital and clinic pages lead directly to destinations such as the University Hospital Basel. For booking, we embedded the form of the existing dispatch software so orders arrive straight there; hospitals and wards get personal booking links with their address number pre-filled. On top come a glossary, a cost guide, a live display of phone availability, an application path with upload, comprehensive schema, llms.txt and redirects for all old URLs.

Step by step

How it works in practice

Booking a transport

From the service page to just before sending. Orders are placed in the dispatch software's embedded form (iDataXchange), which we integrated into the website. All details in the images are sample data; nothing was sent.

Views with customer data show sample data or are redacted.

  1. 01Step 1 / 5
Mobimed – Step 1: Find the service

    Find the service

The stretcher transport page explains the essentials first. «Book transport» sits in the top right and below the intro, and the phone bar shows whether someone is available right now.

  2. 02Step 2 / 5
Mobimed – Step 2: Open the booking page

    Open the booking page

The page states right away that the order goes straight to dispatch and gives the free number for anyone who prefers to call.

  3. 03Step 3 / 5Sample data
Mobimed – Step 3: Client and patient

    Client and patient

The embedded form starts with the client, then patient details, transport type and special needs such as an escort or oxygen.

  4. 04Step 4 / 5Sample data
Mobimed – Step 4: Time and destination, before sending

    Time and destination, before sending

Date, pick-up time, destination and contact at the destination, then the terms. The walkthrough stops at «Send»: once sent, the order would land directly in the dispatch software, without a detour via email.

  5. 05Step 5 / 5
Mobimed – Step 5: Notes below the form

    Notes below the form

Below the form, the page lists what matters before booking: lead time, details about the situation on site, a medical prescription and, in an emergency, 144.

From search to the right page

Anyone searching for a town, a hospital or a type of trip lands on a dedicated page. Four examples from the 93 German pages.

  1. 01Step 1 / 4
Mobimed – Step 1: Basel location page

    Basel location page

Each of the 19 location pages gives postcode, canton and transport types and answers the essentials first. Booking and calling sit right below.

  2. 02Step 2 / 4
Mobimed – Step 2: University Hospital page

    University Hospital page

The 12 hospital and clinic pages describe the trip there and back, with pick-up at the front door and an escort to the reception.

  3. 03Step 3 / 4
Mobimed – Step 3: Dialysis trips

    Dialysis trips

For recurring trips such as dialysis, the page explains the rhythm, fixed times and consistent staff.

  4. 04Step 4 / 4
Mobimed – Step 4: Costs and health insurance

    Costs and health insurance

The page answers the most common question before booking: who pays for what. Short answer first, details below.

Features

What the solution does

  • Booking straight into dispatch

The «book transport» page embeds the booking form of the existing dispatch software. Orders land directly there, with no retyping from emails. The form height is tuned for every screen width.

  • Personal booking links for hospitals

Regular clients such as hospitals and wards receive links containing their address number, which is passed on to the booking form. The client is pre-filled on every order.

  • 14 service pages

Stretcher, wheelchair and seated transport, transfer, rehab, dialysis and examination trips, airport transfer, repatriation and more. All content from one source; menu, footer, sitemap and schema follow automatically, and each page has a filtered image gallery.

  • 19 location pages, not name swaps

From Basel and Riehen to Liestal, Laufen and Rheinfelden: each page lists typical destinations, directions and local questions with FAQ schema, rather than just swapping the place name.

  • 12 hospital and clinic pages

Destination pages for the region's hospitals and clinics, including University Hospital Basel, Claraspital, UKBB, Felix Platter and KSBL Liestal, for people searching by where the trip goes.

  • Glossary, guide and cost page

30 terms with their own page and DefinedTerm schema, a guide «Which type of transport fits?» and a page on costs and health insurance.

  • Trilingual with translated URLs

German, English and French as complete language trees with 93 pages each, translated URL slugs, hreflang and their own language attribute, for the Basel border region.

  • Live availability and contact bar

The website shows in Swiss time whether someone is answering the phone right now, and keeps a contact bar with the free 0800 number on every page.

  • SEO and GEO set-up, redirects

MedicalBusiness, service, FAQ, breadcrumb and JobPosting schema, llms.txt and llms-full.txt with all service and location pages in full text, webmcp.json deliberately without a booking function, security headers and redirects for all old URLs.

  • Jobs and applications with upload

A jobs page with JobPosting schema and an application form with drag and drop for up to eight files; applications reach Mobimed by email with attachments, and applicants receive a confirmation.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why does Mobimed use an embedded booking form?

Because dispatch already works with industry software. We embedded its booking form in the website so orders arrive directly there and do not have to be retyped from emails. Hospitals and wards receive personal links with their address number pre-filled.

How do the location pages differ from one another?

Each of the 19 location pages lists typical destinations, directions and questions commonly asked in that place. Pages that differ only by place name would be devalued by Google and help nobody.

Why is the website trilingual?

Basel sits where three countries meet, and patients, relatives and clinics also ask in English and French. All three languages are complete, with 93 pages each and translated URLs.

Can an AI assistant book a transport with Mobimed?

No, deliberately not. The webmcp.json describes the website for AI assistants but contains no booking function: with health data, a human places the order. Services, service area and contact are still correctly readable via llms.txt and schema.
