Landing Page.

A landing page is a standalone web page focused on exactly one goal — an enquiry, a booking, a download or a purchase — on which visitors arrive from a particular source, such as a Google Ads campaign, a newsletter or a QR code.

Landing Page — Explained in Detail

The difference from a normal website lies in focus. A homepage has to serve many visitor groups and leads in every direction: services, team, case studies, contact. A landing page has one audience, one offer and one action. Everything that does not contribute to that goes — often including the main navigation. That makes the page more effective for exactly this purpose, but unsuitable as a general entry point.

A good landing page answers visitors' questions in the order in which they arise: am I in the right place? (A headline that picks up the promise of the ad or link.) What do I get? (Benefits, concrete and verifiable.) Can I trust this? (Case studies, real photos, clear information about process and price.) What do I have to do? (One clear call to action and a short form.) And what if I still have questions? (FAQ, phone number, WhatsApp.)

There are two kinds of landing page. Campaign landing pages are made for paid ads and are often excluded from indexing so they do not compete with regular pages. SEO landing pages are permanent pages for a search term, such as a service in a particular location, and must offer independent, helpful content — otherwise they count as doorway pages, which Google demotes. Pages that differ only by a swapped place name fall squarely into that category.

A landing page is measured by its conversion rate: how many visitors complete the desired action? That requires clean tracking, enough visitors for meaningful numbers, and patience. Anyone who changes the layout after twenty visits is optimising for chance. With small budgets it pays more to sharpen the offer and headline than to test button colours.

Example: a landing page for a Google Ads campaign

A removals company runs ads for 'removal company Zurich' and sends every click to the homepage. There, removals, clearances, cleaning, storage and disposal sit side by side with equal weight. The new landing page picks up the ad ('Moving in Zurich — quote within 24 hours'), shows the process in three steps, photos of the company's own team and vans, a short FAQ on insurance and pricing, and a form with only five fields. The other services are linked further down, but not in the way.

We build landing pages as a format of their own, see landing pages, and combine them with Google Ads management.

When a dedicated landing page is not needed

If the existing service page already reflects exactly what the ad offers, loads quickly and presents one clear action, it is the better landing page — it has rankings, links and trust. A separate page is worthwhile for a special offer, a clearly defined audience, or when the existing page offers too many paths.

Frequently Asked Questions About Landing Page

A website consists of many pages for different visitors and purposes. A landing page is a single page with one goal, often for a specific campaign. It can be part of the website or run on its own.

On campaign pages often not, or only a reduced one, so visitors are not distracted. On SEO landing pages that are part of the website, the normal navigation belongs there so that visitors and search engines understand the context.

As long as the decision requires. A free consultation needs little text. An investment of several thousand francs needs more explanation, evidence and answers to objections. What matters is that the call to action is visible early and repeated.
