SEO Copy.
SEO copy is web text that answers a specific search query so completely and clearly that search engines classify it as a suitable answer and readers act on it. Good SEO copy is written for people first; the search engine optimisation shows in the structure, choice of words and clear answer, not in repeated keywords.
SEO Copy — Explained in Detail
The term SEO copy has a bad reputation, and rightly so if you think of the texts of earlier years: clumsy sentences in which 'web design Zurich' appears three times in every paragraph, filler text at the bottom of the page that nobody reads. Texts like that no longer work. Google assesses whether content is helpful and recognises texts written only for search engines.
Good SEO copy starts with search intent. Someone searching for 'end-of-tenancy cleaning cost' wants a price range and the factors that determine the price, not a company history. The core question is therefore answered in the first or second sentence. Then come the follow-up questions, organised with meaningful subheadings, concrete figures, examples and a clear next step.
The choice of words follows the customers' language. The main term belongs in the title tag, the H1 and the beginning of the text. In the rest of the text, related terms and synonyms help to cover the topic fully; Google understands connections through semantic search anyway. There is no fixed keyword density. Length is not a goal in itself either: a text is as long as the answer needs.
The same principles apply to AI systems in a stricter form. They cite passages that answer a question in a way that is understandable on its own. A paragraph that begins with 'As mentioned above' or reveals its core statement only at the end is poorly suited to this. Short, self-contained paragraphs with clear statements and verifiable information are therefore good SEO copy and good material for AI answers at the same time.
Structure of SEO copy
The title and H1 name the topic and the benefit. The opening answers the main question directly. Subheadings organise the text according to the questions readers have. Each section makes one clear statement, ideally with a concrete example or figure. Internal links point to pages that go deeper, and the meta description summarises the benefit for the results list. At the end there is a clear call to action.
Tables for comparisons, lists for processes, images with descriptive alt text and an FAQ for the most common follow-up questions also help, provided these are answered visibly on the page.
Example: before and after for a landscape gardener
Before: 'Welcome to Muster Gartenbau. For over 20 years we have been your competent partner for everything to do with gardens and landscaping in the region. Gardening is our passion.' The text says nothing that every landscape gardener could not say, and it answers no question.
After, for the page 'Garden maintenance subscription': 'With the maintenance subscription, we trim hedges, mow lawns and weed beds at fixed intervals from March to November, for gardens in Horgen, Thalwil and Wädenswil. You choose between monthly and fortnightly maintenance; we calculate the price after a site visit based on area and hedge length.' We write texts like this at our content marketing agency and as part of SEO management.

As long as the answer needs. A simple question can be answered completely in 300 words; a complex topic needs considerably more. Google does not prefer any particular word count.
According to Google, it assesses the quality of content, not how it was produced. Mass-produced texts without added value do violate the spam policies, though. AI can help with drafting; expertise, your own examples and review by people remain necessary.
There is no fixed number. The main term belongs in the title, the H1 and the first sentences. After that, write naturally, using synonyms and related terms. Deliberate repetition for its own sake tends to do harm.
