E-E-A-T.

E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness — Google's quality framework for evaluating content. Particularly important for YMYL topics (health, finance, law). Show who is behind the content and what experience you have.

E-E-A-T — Explained in Detail

E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. This is Google's conceptual framework that quality raters (human evaluators) use to assess web pages. These evaluations feed into algorithm development and influence which pages are classified as high quality. The first 'E' (Experience) was added in 2022 — Google now explicitly evaluates whether authors have firsthand experience with a topic.

E-E-A-T is particularly relevant for YMYL pages (Your Money or Your Life) — content about health, finance, law, or safety. Here, Google sets the highest standards. But it also applies to business websites: show who is behind your content (author profiles, bios), what experience and references you have (case studies, customer testimonials), and that you are trustworthy (imprint, privacy policy, contact details, secure HTTPS connection).

Measures to strengthen E-E-A-T: Create authentic author profiles with photos, qualifications, and links to social media profiles. Publish case studies and references. Actively collect customer reviews (Google, Trustpilot). Build high-quality backlinks from recognized sources. Create a clear 'About Us' page with team photos. Regularly update content with the date of last revision. And: HTTPS as an absolute prerequisite.

Frequently Asked Questions About E-E-A-T

Key measures: 1) Create author profiles for all content with real photos and qualifications. 2) Demonstrate experience through case studies, references, and customer testimonials. 3) Build backlinks from recognized Swiss sources. 4) Maintain complete contact details, imprint, and privacy policy. 5) Keep content up to date with a visible last-updated date.

Technically, E-E-A-T is not a single algorithmic factor — it is an evaluation framework for human quality raters. However, these evaluations feed into algorithm development and indirectly influence rankings. Google has confirmed that E-E-A-T forms the basis for many core updates. It is therefore an important strategic compass for your content.

YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) refers to topics where poor information could cause significant harm: health, finance, law, safety, nutrition. Google sets the highest E-E-A-T requirements here. Those providing medical advice should be demonstrably qualified. Those making financial recommendations should be able to prove their license and expertise.
